Georgia Ruth + Dafydd Owain

We are thrilled to welcome Georgia Ruth back to Galeri with a full band performing her new album ‘Cool Head’.

Georgia Ruth is a musician from Aberystwyth. Using folk influences to create a truly unique sound, her debut album, Week Of Pines, won the Welsh Music Prize in 2013 and was nominated for two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Since then, she has collaborated with the Manic Street Preachers and has performed internationally.

In June this year, Georgia’s released her fourth studio album, 'Cool Head.' Written in the aftermath of a very difficult period, Georgia describes the album as a long drive through night into morning. "Cool head", a phrase her dad would always use to urge calm thinking, presents a candid and affecting collection of songs, spanning wide-open Americana, art-pop and 60s-influenced folk ballads.

Recorded in Sain studios, the album features a wonderful band, string arrangements by Gruff Ab Arwel, and the unmistakable vocals of Euros Childs.

Opening the evening will be the talented musician Dafydd Owain and his band, leading us to the imaginary world of Uwch Dros y Pysgod.

"It is Ruth's most cohesive [album] to date, creating a bridge between rhythmic art pop and simple narrative songs rooted in emotion and place that have been the hallmarks of her previous work." **** (Songlines)

"Her fourth album ‘Cool Head’ is arguably her finest yet, which is no mean feat given the quality of what has come before." (Clash)
