We will be reviewing and amending the guidelines as required in line with the legislation and Government guidelines.

Frequently asked questions:

Your visit to Galeri will be different to the pre-covid experience in accordance with the Welsh Government guidelines, however a warm welcome will be expecting you and we will do our utmost to ensure that you have an enjoyable and safe experience.

We are simply implementing the guidelines as instructed by law. These will inevitably be amended over the weeks and months ahead.

The current measures we have in place are:

  • Checking Covid Passes for all audience members (at the reception)
  • Collecting customer details for Test, Trace & Protect purposes
  • Managing the number of people within the building at any one time
  • A one-way system is in place within the building (entry from Balaclava Road only)
  • Ventilation system in the theatre and cinema (pumping fresh air at all times - not recycled air)
  • Social distancing signage throughout the building
  • Hand sanitising stations can be found around the building
  • More frequent and enhanced cleaning procedures operated
  • Wearing a face covering/mask is essential at all times when walking around the building and attending an event in the theatre. You may take your face covering off whilst seated in the Café Bar and when eating/drinking only in the theatre
  • Staff have received full Covid 19 training
  • Closing some toilet cubicles and sinks
  • Windows will be left open whenever possible (weather permitting)
  • Promoting contactless payment
  • Promoting online ticket sales
  • The majority of staff test (LFT) regularly

From Monday, 15.11.21 it is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT for all adults (ages 18+) to present the NHS Covid Pass or proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test (LFT) to attend an event in any theatre or cinema in Wales. Passes are available free of charge.

There are 3 types of certification/proof that can be used to legally be permitted to attend an event, they are:

  • A paper-based certificate of vaccination (note the paper certificate can take up to 10 days to arrive from date ordered)
  • Official confirmation of a negative test result by e-mail or text (within 48 hours of your visit)

Register for a pass online by visiting :
For a paper certificate you will need to call the NHS on 0300 303 5667 (note the paper certificate can take up to 10 days to arrive)

There are several locations where you can collect a lateral flow test. You can find your nearest outlet by visiting :

Do not come to Galeri. Stay at home and organise a PCR test immediately. Remain at home until you receive the result and follow the advice as instructed.
If you let us know before the screening/performance we will issue a credit to you customer account (we’re unable to offer refunds)

Unfortunately, legally we will not be allowed to admit you to the event. These are not our rules, but the law and we will be implementing accordingly.

We will be checking and validating audience members’ Covid Passes in the reception area ahead of every screening/event. We hope the checks won’t take too much time – but we kindly ask audience members to arrive at Galeri at least 30 minutes before the screening/event to ensure that all passes are checked.

Yes – most of the time.
Face covering must be worn on arrival and when roaming the building.

If you are attending:
A live event in the theatre/cinema: you must wear a face covering throughout the performance (you can remove to eat/drink only)
A film / broadcast in the cinema: you can remove whilst seated
The Café Bar: you can remove whilst seated
An exhibition: you must wear a face covering

Face coverings must be worn during your visit. The only time you can remove your face covering is when seated at a table in the Café Bar. Face covering must be worn in the cinema.

Children 11 years old and younger and individuals who are medically exempt don’t have to wear a face covering.

We are encouraging customers to buy tickets online if possible. Tickets are available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will need to register for an account online if purchasing a ticket for the very first time.

We have recently re-opened the Box Office 7 days a week
From Monday to Friday the Box Office is open from 09:00 until the last event of the day starts.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Box Office will be open from 09:30 until the last event of the day starts.

Feel free to call us on 01286 685 222, email us or visit in person.

We strongly suggest that you pre-book your tickets as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

We are currently printing and distributing physical tickets for events. Please ensure that you arrive Galeri 30 minutes ahead of the advertised start time to allow time for the covid pass checks.

or visit in person during our opening hours.

There is no limit/rule on how many people can sit together when attending an event in the theatre or the Café Bar at the moment.
In the cinema, we do operate a “bubble” seating seat-plan that has restrictions on the number of people sat together. This will remain in place until the end of the year initially.

For theatre events, it would be financially unviable for us to stage with social distancing, therefore all tickets are available/on sale.

Due to the number of screenings, we have social distancing in the cinema. This effectively means there will always be 1 empty seat between each customer/bubble/group and others. You can see the seat-plan and select your seats online when buying your tickets.

No. We will not be printing any schedules/flyers to promote the cinema provision at the moment. Our “what’s on” page on the website will be updated on a regular basis.

If you are on social media, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest updates.

Customers can also be added to our weekly e-mail list for weekly listings.

We ask audience members to be in Galeri at least 30 minutes before the event to ensure the tickets are distributed and Covid Passes checked.

The Bar will be open and the kiosk in the cinema foyer is open 20 minutes before each film. Cinema doors will open 20 minutes before the film’s advertised start time (note the time listed for films is the start time of the feature film).

Please plan your visit accordingly and factor in time for traffic/roadworks and parking.

We have amended our kitchen and operational opening hours in the Café Bar. Our current opening hours are:

Café Bar (drinks / cakes)

Kitchen (meals)

Monday Closed Closed
Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 – start time of the last event of the day ** 10:30 – 14:30
Sunday Closed Closed

** For event in the theatre, the bar will remain open for the interval and following the performance

We will be opening the kiosk 20 minutes before the film starts. Please pay using contactless method if possible. The kiosk will close once the film has started.

Please help us by putting your rubbish in the bin on your way out.

All performance spaces (Cinema screens, theatre and studio spaces) bring in fresh air from the outside and extract air from the spaces to the outside – no air is recirculated.

Windows will also be kept open to keep a flow of fresh air into the building.

We have contacted all ticketholders to update on postponed and cancelled events.

Some events have been rescheduled and are currently on-sale on our website.

For the cancelled events, everyone should have now received a refund or credit on their customer account.

We do not offer any refunds in line with our policy.

If we receive at least 12 hours notice, we are happy to credit your customer account that can be used for future ticket purchases in Galeri for 12 months from the date issued (a £1 per ticket admin charge will be discounted).

Please email with your request for a credit on your account.

We’re also happy for you to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member. Please bear in mind they will require a Covid Pass.

We value any feedback (positive or not) that will help us adapt and improve our systems and services here in Galeri.

You are also welcome to email us directly with any suggestions and feedback
