Carys Eleri: Tonguing

A Carys Eleri production supported by Wales Millennium Centre

Get ready for a new genre-traversing one-woman show exploring connection and communication as Carys Eleri brings her insightful brand of comedy to life through science and song.

Fuelled with captivating mad-cap storytelling, ridiculous animations and an eclectic explosion of songs ranging from electronica to medieval flutes via heavy metal, Tonguing explores how human connection shapes everything from our brains to our bodies and how a growing dependence on the digital sphere can lead to a deprivation of real human connection.

It’s a call to move beyond the online platforms which have alienated us from each other and to promote the art and skill of conversation – IRL.

Having kickstarted her research with a conversation with Dr. Simon Fisher (‘the Beyonce of neuroscience’ ) and with plenty of advice from neuroscientist Dr Dean Burnett (author of The Happy Brain), Carys – the maker of Lovecraft (Not the Sex Shop in Cardiff) – brings a brand new show to audiences and leads them on a hilarious journey through the weird and wonderful cogs of the human mind.

Get talking. Get tonguing.
