Al Lewis
Al Lewis’s latest album 'Fifteen Years' examines the universal themes of grief and healing through Lewis’s own experience of finally beginning to come to terms with the loss of his father while hoping to help others in similar situations.
He has released multiple albums, won Best Song + Album at the UK Americana Awards (as part ofLewis & Leigh) been nominated for the Welsh Music Prize and the Welsh Folk Awards (for his single 'The Farmhouse'). His albums have all spent multiple weeks at #1 on the Welsh language charts. He has also performed at iconic events such as Glastonbury Festival, Nashville's Americana Music Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Lorient Festival (Brittany) and Celtic Connections in Glasgow.
Al’s single based upon the Dylan Thomas story, ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ was the first song sung partly in Welsh to make it onto the BBC Radio 2 playlist and has since been covered by artists as varied as Gary Barlow and John Owen Jones.
His album 'Te yn y Grug' (Tea in the Heather) was a concept choral-folk piece written initially for a musical of the same name that was performed at a sold-out concert at the 2019 Welsh National Eisteddfod.
Gwenno Morgan
Emerging from the enchanting realms of North Wales and now crafting her artistry in the bustling streets of London, Gwenno Morgan is a pianist and composer whose music transcends traditional boundaries.
With roots deeply entrenched in classical piano from the age of 7, Gwenno’s journey led her to Texas in 2019 to explore jazz and classical fusion. However, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic sparked a creative rebirth, steering her towards composing and producing her own piano-centric pieces.
Drawing inspiration from folk melodies and cinematic atmospheres, Gwenno’s compositions serve as emotional diaries, reflecting a spectrum of experiences from grief to wanderlust. Her debut EP, “Cyfnos,” released in 2021, captured the attention of BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri and Huw Stephens, heralding her arrival as a compelling new voice.
Gwenno's latest single, "Samhain," co-produced by Belgium-born Arthur Brouns, marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her journey, signalling the promise of more innovative work to come.
Gwenno’s beautiful melodies will be accompanied by a string section on the evening.
Buddug
The song 'Dal Dig' has thrown Buddug from being a young student, to being an artist who excites everyone in Wales with her intense and anthemic music. From Llanrug, and having just completed her A-levels, the world is the young singer-songwriter's oyster, who originally came to the attention of her label Côsh through the recommendation of Alys Williams, who worked with her during singing lessons.
Buddug and her band will be opening the evening with an acoustic set.
